I. Introduction

In continuation of the mission of Peace Steps Association to provide rapid humanitarian response and support to the most vulnerable groups amid the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, the Association has continued its interventions aimed at protecting the rights of orphaned children—particularly those who are injured—and addressing the administrative and legal barriers that prevent them from accessing necessary medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip.

This intervention responds to the urgent need to expedite medical travel procedures for critical cases and to ensure that children can access specialized healthcare services in a timely and dignified manner.

II. Description of the Implemented Activity

During this month, the Association implemented a follow-up activity to facilitate and complete the issuance of official civil documents for orphaned children, especially injured children, in order to enable them to finalize medical referrals and travel procedures for treatment abroad.

The follow-up included the issuance and processing of the following official documents:

• Birth certificates

• National ID cards (where applicable)

• Passports

• Any additional official documents required to complete medical referral and travel files

The activity involved close coordination and follow-up with the relevant authorities, preparation of complete documentation files for each child, and supporting families throughout the required legal and administrative procedures to reduce delays in document issuance as much as possible.

III. Objectives of the Activity

• To enable orphaned children, particularly injured children, to complete travel procedures for medical treatment abroad.

• To remove administrative obstacles that hinder access to specialized healthcare services.

• To safeguard the legal rights of children and ensure their proper civil registration.

• To alleviate the legal and psychological burden on families and legal guardians.

IV. Target Beneficiaries

• Orphaned children in the Gaza Strip, particularly those injured and in need of medical treatment outside the Strip.

• Families and legal guardians, indirectly, through facilitation of official procedures and administrative support.

V. Partnership and Support

This activity was implemented in partnership and coordination with La Casserole – Namur, Belgium, within the framework of joint humanitarian cooperation aimed at protecting children’s rights and ensuring their access to specialized healthcare services.

Peace Steps Association highly values this partnership, which reflects a genuine commitment to humanitarian solidarity and contributes directly to enabling orphaned children to complete the legal procedures necessary to access medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip.

• Identification and prioritization of urgent medical cases.

• Review and verification of available documentation for each case.

• Follow-up on the issuance of birth certificates, ID cards, and passports.
